Investing in WWE

So there has been something on my mind for the longest time now. Which is when and how much to invest into WWE(World Wrestling Entertainment). Yes, I have been seriously thinking about investing my money into "fake wrestling." I have been a loyal WWE follower since as long as i could remember. I can remember as far back as the interviews for the 1990 SummerSlam Pay Per Piew event. SummerSlam 1990 is where I start to count how many years I have been a WWE fan. Which is welll over 19 years now. So with 19 years of knowledge into the WWE product I have been really stuck on weather or not to invest. Now I figure I can convince myself to invest if I write this blog.

The WWE has been a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange since October 1999. The conpany's IPO was 11,500,000 shares of stock at $17 a share(WWE Corporate Website with stock ticker:(http://corporate.wwe.com/investors/overview.jsp). I think it is really amazing that a wrestling company has the abbility to go public with there product. The product would have to be very popular in the states and accross the pond. The WWE Corporate does a better job at explaining then I ever could.

Based on the stats in the video I think I would be a fool not to invest into WWE. However, based on my "knowledge" from 19 years of watching wrestling I noticed there is always a "BOOM" period in wrestling. The last time wrestling was HOT was back in the late 1990's. The WCW(defunct wrestling promotion) and WWE were both selling out arenas accross the country and selling merchhandise like wild fire. The "Boom" lasted for about 5 years from 1996 to 2001. The WCW was losing money and getting beat by the WWE in television ratings. So in 2001 the parent company that owned WCW AOL/Time Warner sold the WCW to the WWE. In doing so the wrestling "Boom" died.

The WWE continuted to preform into the 2000's but in my opinion it seemed everything was not as exciting as before. The arenas accross the country were not sold out as offten as before. I didn't see people on the street wear a WWE t-shirt like I did before. I was certainly watching like before but I wasn't wearing the WWE shirts as much either. Somehow the fun and excitment was gone and I'm sure the WWE noticed that the revenue was somewhat gone too.

So this brings me to right now. I am a Senior Accounting Major with some knowledge in business. I have been wanting to get my feet wet in the stock market for sometime now. So I think It would be a great idea to get my feet wet in World Wrestling Entertainment. I have watch the WWE product for most of my life now I think I could manage my money properly in the business. The most enticing part about investing into the WWE is that another wrestling "Boom" may be in the future. A new wrestling company has come about. Total Nonstop Action (TNA). TNA has the possiblity of creating new wrestling fans and bringing back old ones. And best of all this could mean competition for the WWE. Competiton could only do good things for the wrestling market.

I believe it would be a great time to invest into the WWE. They have the track record of being very successful in the wrestling business. The market has competition now so it could only be a matter of time before the "Boom" starts again.

There I go, I have convinced myself to invest in the WWE.
